Midnight Train's Most Frequently Asked Questions

Below are all of the questions we could remember having been asked in the past. If you have a question that's not on here, please feel free to email midnighttrain@alivenetwork.com or call our agent, Alive Network, on 01782 740839.

How much space do you need?

We can squeeze into some tight spaces before but ideally need a 5x3 meter space to perform.

How is it best to time things?

We always work with clients to make sure we have as many people on the dance floor as possible. This usually means working around evening food and any other evening activities planned. We typically play our first set straight after the first dance, take a break whilst evening food is served and play our last set up until around 23:15.

Can I pick the bands playlist?

We are more than happy for clients to take a look through our repertoire pick out favourites, however we do usually lean towards tried and tested bangers that always fill a dance floor. We will always have a conversation about song choices and how the sets will sound.

Where will you travel to?

Being based in Leeds, we usually keep our travel radius within roughly 65 miles or a 2 hour journey.

Can I see you play live?

Whilst we play countless weddings and events throughout the year, we only play a handful of public gigs but we always advertise these on social media. Be sure to check out our instagram and Facebook pages for live footage and clips of us in action.

Will you learn our special song?

Of course! We love the opportunity to play your first dance live. We only ask for the cost of rehearsal time.

Is the video on your website a true reflection of the band?

Yes, our promo videos show us exactly how we perform live. Unlike some other bands who use stand in musicians, our line up is always the same. This means our sets are tight and more rehearsed.

How do I book you?

It’s easy to book us. You can make an enquiry through our website here. Our agent will get back to you with our availability and a quote.

Are you able to DJ in between sets?

Absolutely. We will never leave your event without music.

Can we make DJ requests in advance to my event?

Clients are always encouraged to send us requests for the DJ sets. It’s always helpful to have a Spotify/Apple Music playlist to work from. But don’t worry about putting it in order, we will look through it and make sure the sets make musical sense.

Can we use your sound system for speeches?

Whilst we don’t use wireless microphones, we can provide a sound system for speeches if booked in advance.

What equipment do you use?

We are proud of our fantastic Alto Professional TS series PA system. With two full range speakers and two subwoofers boasting over 4000 watts of power, we’re well equipped for both small or large venues. Form our amps and speakers to our instruments, all of our equipment is top of the line and well maintained to give you the best live sound.

Do you have lights?

We use an assortment of stage lights and disco lights to give the right ambience for a party.

How long do you play for?

We usually play either 2 x 60 mins or 3 x 45 mins as standard, however you can always enquire about an extra set.

What time do you start and finish?

We will start playing our first set straight after.

How long do you take to set up?

We usually ask for 90 mins before starting either our first set or DJing. This ensures we have enough time to get things up and running and a decent soundcheck so you have us sounding our best!

Can I provisionally book you?

If we are available for your date, you can speak to our agent about booking us. Whilst we cannot provisionally hold dates for a long period of time, we understand there may be some other things to sort before committing to a booking. We’re happy to pencil in a booking for a few days  whilst you make your decision.

What if the band split up before my event?

We understand this may be a concern for some clients, however Midnight Train have been playing with each for over a decade and have no intention of stopping any time soon. Since forming at University, we’ve been a tight group of friends and have agreements that if one or more members decided to move on from the band, we would fulfil our existing bookings.

Can my sisters/bosses/daughters dog sing with your band?

As an easy going but professional band, we’re happy for someone to join us on stage for a song, but we would like a quick chat to discuss beforehand so everybody knows the plan. Ultimately it’s your choice. If the groom plays guitar or a family member can sing and you think it will add a special moment to the night, we’re all about making your party more memorable and we’ll work with you to make it happen!

What will the band wear?

Whilst black is the “musicians uniform”, we loosely follow this and try to coordinate our outfits with dark trousers and shirts. If you have a specific dress code you’d like us to follow to fit your theme, we’re happy to discuss this. Follow us on social media for a better idea of how we dress.

Does the band have PAT and PLI certificates?

Yes, we’re fully PAT tested and insured for PLI. We can have our agents send these over or send them over straight to the venue.

Why should I book Midnight Train?

Midnight Train are more than just a wedding band. As mentioned before, we are all best mates lucky enough to share our favourite music and have fun doing it. This really comes across in our performances. We’re all really approachable and love to meet you and your guests. We like to think of ourselves as more than just suppliers and an extended part of your wedding party. Whilst we are tight and well practised, and might have played some songs a thousand times, we like to make each night unique. Whether it’s improvised crowd chants, drum solos or having the bride sing a song with us, every performance is unique to your wedding. Unlike other bands that use deps or change their line up regularly, we pride ourselves on being exactly what you see in our promo, a group of lads who love doing what they do and making your night unforgettable.

How much does it cost to book the band?

Our prices may vary depending on location and which optional extras you may choose. Please speak to our agent or take a look on our profile to get an idea of price for your wedding.

Can we see some previous client testimonials?

Of course! We have loads of glowing reviews from previous clients.

Do Midnight Train have any specific requirements?

We’re an easy bunch and really the only requirements are a power supply, water/soft drinks and if you have evening food to have during our break, this is much appreciated.

What type/size venues are you able to play at?

We play a range of venues and have a standard set up for small/medium sized wedding venues. If your venue is on the larger size we can arrange a larger set up that’s more appropriate.

How loud will the band be?

Depending on the size of the room we play at a volume that’s appropriate for the party. We want our crowds to feel like they’re at a show when they’re on the dance floor but don’t want to deafen the people at the back. We’ll always work with the venue to ensure we have the perfect volume.

What is the band power requirement?

We ask for ample wall sockets close to the stage. We do bring extension cables to make sure we’re covered.

Do Midnight Train offer any additional services?

Yes we do offer other extra services like acoustic sets, saxophone and DJ services. Please have a look on our websitefor a better idea of what we offer and prices, or speak to our agent who will help with any queries.
